and trainers that teach riding or other equine lessons. This class will feature
the nationally recognized Groom Elite education program that provides racetrack
grooms opportunities to learn about the horses with which they work and become
certified upon completion of written and practical certification exams. High
School Groom Elite is a companion program that qualifies High School Students
for Groom Elite certifying exams and prepares them for jobs in the equine
industry, both at farms and at the racetrack. Teachers completing this course
may apply for licensing as a HSGE instructor which is the first step in becoming
a Certified HSGE instructor. All participants will receive a copy of the 250
page HSGE Master Course Book. More information about High School Groom Elite
will be available at the Clinic.
This clinic will be an intensive four days of continuing education discussing
principles of horse care and teaching of those principles. Using the Groom Elite
format of lecture and hands on learning, Dr. McLellan will demonstrate methods
of teaching Horse Behavior and how it relates to handling, grooming and riding
horses. Participants will see different teaching aids and methods available such
as anatomical models and power point slide shows. Discussion will include how to
make your Power Point slide show more effective. Horse owners interested in
learning more about their horses will benefit from the hands on experience and
opportunity to work with equine trainers & instructors.
Class will be held at the new Florida Parishes Campus of Northshore Technical
Community College in Greensburg, La.
The campus is actively planning a new Equine Center that will house
Northshore CC’s current accredited Veterinary Tech Program and a future Equine
Studies Program.
Tuition will be $499 if paid before July 21, ($600 if paid after July 21). Space is
limited and early registration is recommended. A $100 non-refundable deposit
will hold a reserved place. Participants can then pay the balance of $399 by
July 21. Students with valid ID or a letter from a trainer will receive a
special reduced tuition of $399.
